TIP Students Expectations of its School

How the T.I.P. Education Measures Up to Students’ Expectations

Finding the right college is an important decision every student will make. Expectations are set, which can leave you either feeling grateful that you made the right choice, or wanting more to make the most out of your college life.

We asked some students who decided to spend their senior high school and college years with the Technological Institute of the Philippines (T.I.P.) and here is what they said about how the school is measuring up to their reasonable levels of expectations:

BEST VALUE EDUCATION

Our students come from different walks of life and family backgrounds. But one thing they have in common is the desire for quality education without breaking their or their parents’ bank accounts, especially for those who want to pursue careers in engineering.

“T.I.P. is already popular as an engineering college. It is really its strongest suit. At the same time, budget-wise, I can afford the tuition fee that’s why I enrolled here,” said working student Krizia Estrabo, who is now in her third year studying BS Mechanical Engineering at T.I.P. Quezon City.

For Rizza Ann Vibar, a senior BS Chemical Engineering student from T.I.P. Manila, what she loves is the fact that the school offers many higher education programs that passed the evaluation of ABET.

Graduating from a school with an ABET accreditation means you are adequately prepared for employment either locally or overseas. Our students are also grateful to learn from professors who are experts in their fields.

“I think they give the quality education that we deserve. More importantly, T.I.P. is doing its best to enhance their facilities, their laboratories, and the learning material itself for us to pursue our dreams,” Vibar said.

ACCESSIBLE LOCATIONS

Convenience is also among the deciding factors on why students choose our school. Whether they live within or outside Metro Manila hardly matters to some of them because they know public transportation systems are available.

This is the perspective of senior BS Architecture students Jhon Lester Falcutila and Camille Escote of T.I.P. Manila. “It is easy to navigate,” said Falcutila, who travels all the way from Cavite to get to school. While the daily commute can be challenging at times, it is tolerable for him.

Escote, meanwhile, lives in Las Piñas and she usually takes a bus going to school. Both the P. Casal and Arlegui campuses of T.I.P. Manila are accessible by train (via the Carriedo station of LRT-1) and other public utility vehicles (PUV).

The same is true for T.I.P. Quezon City campus in Cubao, which is a few minutes walk away from the Anonas station of LRT-2. Many jeepneys and buses ply across Aurora Boulevard, making it easy for students to reach the school by any type of PUV or motorcycle taxis.

FIRST-RATE FACILITIES

But the coolest thing about our school, according to many of our students, is our top-notch laboratories. There are different labs designed for specialized courses in the fields of engineering, architecture, and computer studies.

“The equipment in our lab is complete and some of our professors really maximize our time using it,” said Estrabo. “So far, T.I.P. meets my needs as a student. At the same time, they are giving me knowledge beyond what I expected,” she declared.

Klyde Angel Yu and April Mae Robles, third year BSIT Entertainment and Multimedia Computing students of T.I.P. Manila, enjoyed working in the Mac laboratories because the computers run on the latest operating systems that are capable of processing so many software programs.

“We were told about the MacLab, so we were already aware of it. It is nice that we can use this facility because there are applications that have extremely high specifications, such as Blender. We need Mac computers for that to render higher quality graphics,” they said.

T.I.P. campuses are also designed like an industrial complex. School buildings are strategically connected with or near each other, so students can easily walk to their next classes. Each campus also has a study area and the usual amenities to serve our students’ needs.

SAFE CAMPUS ENVIRONMENT

A lot of students also feel safe inside our campus. They appreciate the presence of our security personnel although some of them commented that they can get strict when it comes to implementing our uniform policy, among other school regulations.

“If we’re just going to talk about the campus, I would say it’s a winner,” Falcutila said. “I find it very clean and peaceful,” Escote added, indicating their general satisfaction about our campus environment. Many senior high school students shared similar thoughts.

They find the cleanliness of the school and its cozy atmosphere very conducive for learning. “Although there are a lot of students here, it doesn’t appear too crowded,” according to Grade 12 student Alliah Hamid, who is also from T.I.P. Manila.

T.I.P. enforces a ‘no smoking’ policy in all its campuses to maintain a healthy environment for all. Parking spaces are limited to ensure that everyone can move freely around the campus. Our security guards are always ready as well to assist students when crossing busy streets.

STUDENT-FRIENDLY INSTITUTION

Does T.I.P. value its relationship with students? If you ask current and former T.I.P.ians, the answer would be a resounding ‘yes.’ Many of our students believe that T.I.P. is one of the most student-friendly higher education institutions in the country.

This is what sophomore BS Civil Engineering student Jianne Mirabelle de Leon of T.I.P. Manila discovered herself. She said she was able to manage her extracurricular activities with her academic studies because T.I.P. provides her a supportive environment.

“I just want to compliment T.I.P. in general because they’re very supportive even for non-academic activities. Of course, you have to learn, but at the same time, they encourage students to enjoy and that’s something I find super cool about studying here,” De Leon said.

Grade 12 student Lyka Angela Peral said she appreciates her teachers. She hopes to still see them even as she prepares for college upon graduating from senior high school. “I feel close to some of my teachers… I learn a lot from them and I thank them so much,” she said.
