


TEACHING CERTIFICATE PROGRAM (TCP)
The post-baccalaureate Teaching Certificate Program (TCP) is intended for non-teacher education graduates (e.g. architecture, arts, business, computing, engineering, law, medical and allied health programs, among others) who would like to develop the required competencies to teach in the elementary, secondary, or tertiary levels.
The completion of the TCP also qualifies non-teacher education graduates for the Board Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (BLEPT).
PROGRAM OF STUDY
The program is composed of six (6) courses at 3 units per course with a total of 18 units as follows:
Philosophical and Historical Foundations of Education and the Teaching Profession (3 units) |
The course deals with the changing views of education approached from the anthropological, historical, and philosophical perspectives. It includes the legal and sociological bases of the educational goals, programs, and practices, current, directions, issues, and concerns of Philippine education. The students are guided to formulate their own views/philosophy of education. Classroom observation is an integral part of the course.

The Child and Adolescent Learner (3 units) |
This course is aimed at facilitating learning by considering the developmental stage, the needs, and characteristics of the learner in a real and virtual learning environment. It focuses on basic concepts, desirable conditions for learning, and theories and principles governing cognitive, psychomotor, and affective learning and their application in teaching and learning situations.

Educational Research and Evaluation (3 units) |
This course introduces TCP students to the basic concepts of research, the types of research, the quantitative and qualitative research methods as they are applied in education. It also aims to equip the students with the knowledge and skills on how to conduct action research.

Principles and Strategies of Teaching with Focus on Online / Flexible Learning / Principles and Methods of Teaching (3 units) |
This course introduces TCP students to the nature of Outcomes-Based Teaching and Learning (OBTL) with focus on online/flexible learning. It deals specifically with the application of the principles and strategies of effective instruction and constructive alignment in the formulation of the learning outcomes, selection and design of teaching and learning activities, and development of the assessment tasks.

Preparation of Instructional Materials for Online/ Flexible Learning (3 units) |
This is a 3-unit course that is focused on the design, production, utilization, and evaluation of multi-sensory instructional materials for teaching and learning through the use of advanced instructional technology.

Assessment in Student Learning with Emphasis on Online/ Flexible Learning/Measurement and Evaluation with Observation and Participation (3 units) |
This course focuses on the development and utilization of assessment tools and assessment tasks using online platforms or Learning Management Systems (LMS) to measure the degree of the attainment of the learning outcomes and use the assessment results for continuous improvement of instruction to ensure learning.

The synchronous online class is scheduled Mondays, Wednesday, and Fridays from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM using our Canvas Learning Management System and Zoom app.
Each course has six (6) meetings or two (2) weeks. The whole program runs for 12 weeks or it can be completed in a semester's time.
The Teaching Certificate Program is only available at the T.I.P. Quezon City campus.
